Fallout since you have been to all but heartland park, what would the better to save money for and go to the best track day?

Hallett pros: Funner, safer, better atmosphere in general (party at nights on the two day ones), cheaper cost per track day, lots of days, waking up to the chicken song.

Hallett cons: It's one boring ass drive down there and the initial savings on the track day will probably be made up in gas getting there (massive car pool offset!), pavement is scetchy in certain parts, trying to ride the second day with any speed after partying my ass off the night before, waking up to the chicken song on day 2.

GIR pros: Much closer (so save on gas and time involved), track itself is fun enough, pavement pretty consistent (change between infield and oval parts maybe), it's a lot closer.

GIR cons: It's an infield road coarse based around an oval track so that equals lots of WALLS (they have tires, and other safety features but it is still something to hit), the transition from the last chicane back to the oval for the straight is nerve racking at best until you find the way to hit it, higher cost for the track day itself (saved by less gas spent getting there), only 3 or so track days scheduled with MCRA a year (might be other cons I can't remember ATM).

My vote goes to Hallett, and Hallett hands down especially if you can off set the cost of getting there by going in a larger group.

I haven't been to HPT but I have heard nothing but great responses from those that have. The monday track days is a bit off putting to me. Hopefully Ron can fill us in here soon. I've heard it is a very fast track and pretty long track. I'm ok with long but I'm not a super speed junkie, once my butt speedo tells me I'm around 120~130 I have a hard time making my right wrist twist much more.

The August event might be a good one to go to. It'll be hot, but Hallett is having races that month so the trackdays are full of racers getting extra practice.

MCRA is also having a weekend event at Hallett this year in July.
