What exactly are you planning to do?

I cut 6" off the end of my muffler on a '03 ZX636. Also had a K&N filter. I had a powercommander that had been installed prior to these modifications. I had the stock fuel mapping loaded so it was like it wasn't even there. Bike ran great.

Every bike is different though. Describe your process of baffle-ectomy that your planning on doing and what bike you have as well as any other important info, mods, etc.

It depends on how much of an 'ectomy you do. I've heard of guys running debaffled cans that ran just fine on the stock settings, and I've heard of guys that have little more than some backfire on deceleration, but it definitely effects the way the bike pulls. What kind of bike do you have? It looks like a 650R from the pic, but I can't quite tell.

Have you googled it? I would think someone has done it and reported the findings.

There's a lot of info on bafflectomy out there. I found several pages talking about pros and cons. Apparently there was a step by step guide, but the page it was on is now for sale.

Most stock mufflers use multiple chambers to "baffle" the exhaust. Here's a diagram I drew on how the ZX636 chambers were arranged.

all stock mufflers are pretty similar. What I did on mine was to cut just past wall #2. This essentially removed 2 chambers from my muffler. Fortunately my muffler had an endcap that was able to be riveted back on afterwards so it appeared to be a shorty stock muffler.

From what I've read about the bafflectomy (which isn't much) you basically drill through the end of your muffler with a 2" holesaw, then proceed to drive a piece of rebar or other long steel shank through the remaining walls - similar to gutting an old catalytic converter on a "track only" (hehee) car.

Do a little research. There's a huge following and several dedicated forums for the 919 that provide some good information. Report back with what you decide to do.
