If I was to sign on with cafe press, and put up a storefront for MMR gear (shirts/hats/anything really) would there be a market for it?
The reason I was thinking about this was that getting together mass t-shirt orders usually takes a good bit of time, money up front, and last year I ended up with 6 or 8 shirts that didnt get payed for. So, my thought being that its about that time for another round of t-shirts again, I could set up a Cafe Press storefront that you could access any time, and buy shirts or hats or whatever at your convienence all throughout the year instead of a once a year deal. Not only that, but you could choose from whatever logos we have already used, and any that we decide on or come up with. The fact that you can put the logos onto things besides shirts (hats being the one im most interested in) is another bonus. When you order the item cafe press makes it to order and ships it out. IMO the only downside to this is that the shirts would likely cost a few dollars more. I just wanted to post up and see if this would be a good idea considering the way we have been handling t shirt orders the past couple of years.

I think it's a good idea, but can we do both? Like a once a year order for new shirts with a new logo? Use a pay in advance style system, so you don't get hung with the expense. BUT also for those who want old shirts or missed the order, so new members aren't SOL.
That's my 2 cents.

Why not just do the cafe press only. If I'm not mistaken, you can submit new designs to cafe press any time. That way, there doesn't need to be a minimum number of shirts that need to be ordered to receive a descent price.
I vote yea for cafe press and ney for once a year orders. Plus, it will give those of us (me) that never have cash, to actually order some merch. Plus, it will be shipped directly to your house instead if trying to coordinate a time to meet whoever was in charge of the annual order.

I'm just thinking about saving money. Plus you could always make an event out of it (race watch, BBQ type of thing). Make the new design available a month or so after the bulk purchase is done.

well i did take cash up front, but some people never paid, and I had to have X amount of shirts to even do the order.
With cafe press you can pay with creidt card any time and have it shipped to your door. The main thing is, I dont want to be out of pocket money again on T-shirts. Really now with 8 sponsors I am coming close to actually recouping my investment in this website monetarily. If you count the shirts that didnt get paid for, that sets me back about another year until I break even. I dont want to have to work so hard to have my bank account go down. And really, the fact that I was out of pocket for the shirts was the reason I never did stickers. If there is not going to be people using the cafe press storefront then i wont do it, as it would just be wasted time. I think the cost would run only a few bucks higher on shirts, but I think the convienence of credit card pay, as well as 'any time ordering' would be worth it. If we do a bulk order of shirts then there is no reason to do the cafe press thing, becuase everyone is already going to have stuff ordered, so I think its going to be one thing or the other. Im still looking for input on this.

im all game for the cafe press thing but i just want to know how much more it is going to cost per shirt to get it to your door than if we were to just have a mass order. If it isn't to much more then i say go for it!

Regular cost will be a couple bucks more, plus shipping will be $4 or $5. $12-$15 bulk order vs $20+ for a tshirt.
Cody -If we do go with the bulk order, I'll take charge of collecting the money, ordering the shirts, and handing them out. One less thing you have to worry about.

Instead of 10 or 12 dollar shirts they will run about 14 bucks plus shipping.
Another bonus is that from cafe press we can have hats and other things.

I've mentioned Cafe Press (twice, once each shirt thread), so I am for it.
Unless something has changed, I think your estimation on costs is a little low compared to the shirts we've done in the past (as far as size range, color and image front/back). Those prices sound like small to large shirts with a graphic on the back only. Graphic on both side +$, dark colored shirt +$ and husky guy shirts +$. My Trebuchet shirt I think ran me almost $22 dollars shipped, being 2xl, dark colored shirt. No real loss setting the storefront up though as an option for folks. Minus the time to do it. |
