Glad to see you taking the plunge, Ryan. You WON'T regret it! Don't worry about the bike...if it can handle a street ride it can handle the track. It's not like you are handing your bike over to Ben Spies for 20 laps at Laguna Seca! Axle sliders, frame sliders, and bar end sliders are cheap insurance and I would highly recommend them.

Don't forget to go to Hallett Motor Racing Circuit and sign yourself up for the novice group and H.A.R.T. class!

Looks like another member will add a pic of themselves in front of the Hallett winner's circle to their album!

Awesome, you're gonna have a blast. Sliders aren't a bad idea at all. I don't think you have to worry about your spot on the trailer, everyone else has bitched out.

I have a test from 830 to 1030. Then I'll have to go pick up Dave and Ryan. I would say I'll be back through JC around 1.

The garages are first come first serve. Stacy and Wood got down there early and snagged that one. We will probably end up with a normal paddock this time.

I hated that garage I had to park outside the whole time.

I'm in guys, got my suit today. Still kinda unclear on how to sign up for the course. Any guidance on the matter would be helpful. And tips on what to bring, how to pack, etc.

Send an e-mail to: connie@hallettracing.net

Include the following info:

your name
dates you are attending
what group you will be riding with (HART/novice)
your address
your phone numbers (home/cell/all of the above)
e-mail address
'in case of emergency' contact name and number

Bring all appropriate riding gear, a foldaway chair, cooler, beverages (water, other, and adult), tent and applicable sleeping gear, shower kit, gas can, etc. Food is available at the track cafe, but it is 'event pricey'. Ron and I will probably try to come up with a camp grill to take, so you can pack some meat/fixin's in your cooler to save some money if you wish. Saturday and Sunday evening are leisure, so plan on some relaxation time. I bring a few cocktails and a cigar. When coupled with track time, nirvana is reached. The track is not the place for hangovers, so we don't party hard.

The website details track fees, but plan on additional money for food, souvenirs, and $40 for the professional track photographer's CD. I suppose it is possible you would not be interested in that, but for your first track outing I would be shocked if you pass on it. We each buy a tank of gas for Ron's truck, and 3 occupants covers it rather nicely. That beast takes $70 to fill up.

Ron, anything I missed? Oh, and I didn't see your name on the list of those registered that Connie just sent out...

Registration:

Send an email to connie@hallettracing.net that includes (I'll fill in what I know in italics):

Name: Ryan Hampshire
Address:
Email:
Phone number:
Days you're riding: Sunday/Monday
Class you're riding in: Novice/HART
Method of payment:
Emergency contact info:

What to pack: It's just like a two day camping trip. They have showers on site, a cafe that serves breakfast and lunch (it will give you mudbutt), electricity, and they're having a dinner on Sunday as part of the festivities (they usually supply beer too).

I've got a checklist I've made up that I could email you if you like. It's basically:

Camping gear
Riding gear
Bike specific tools (I'll have all the normal stuff but if there is something like a spanner wrench that only fits your bike, bring it)
Both sets of bike keys
sunblock (you'll burn the back of your neck)
water (one case per person)
bug spray (mosquitos are terrible)
gas can
ear plugs (make a huge difference in on-track comfort)
any food/snacks you want
cash (for gas and tolls)
shower gear
bike stands
Hangers for gear (wet leathers are a bitch)
Small fan to keep cool and dry helmet

Pack as light as you can. I'd recommend picking up one of those big rubbermaid tubs and cramming as much stuff into it as you can. Drill holes in the top corners to zip tie the lid on so it doesn't blow away. There will be three of us cramming our stuff into my truck/trailer so don't get carried away. Some people (Devo and Chris Bryant) think you've got to bring everything under the sun, all of your tools, etc, etc, etc. It took Princess Devo an hour to haul all of his junk out to the truck last time. I also bring my own food and a little microwave to warm it up with so if you'd rather not eat at the greasy spoon, you can use it too.

I can't think of anything off hand. As for my checklist, since you live in Columbia, you can stop by my work and pick one up. I'll cross off all the stuff that I already bring (tools, chemicals, equipment we can share) and stuff you just won't need.
