It has been mentioned a number of times on this forum about getting together and letting some lead fly. The weather is too questionable to plan a ride, football season is almost over, pitchers and catchers don't report for another 3-4 weeks, so we should invade a local shooting range and release some of our hostilities.
What types of firearms do we want to bring out handguns, rifles or both? Which public shooting range would work out best for those involved or does someone have access to another facility? I am trying to stir the pot a little here, let everyone know what your thoughts are. After my last goose hunting adventure I need some work on my shotgun skills. |

I would be happy to come shoot with you guys. Depending on where you do it I could bring the 50 BMG out and let you guys touch some rounds off. (if the range allows it)

I have an inexpensive clay-bird thrower that I bought years ago that I could bring. Scrivner Wildlife Area has a range setup to accommodate clay-birds, handguns and rifles. I think that Whetstone Wildlife Area will work too, but it is not as nice a facility. What is the situation like at the Finger Lakes Area?
The opportunity to shoot a .50 caliber has got me stoked. |

I know the 50 isn't allowed at finger lakes. Not sure about others.

That is probably consistent among all Conservation Department ranges. Too bad!

Fingerlakes has an ok setup, though I can't really compare it to your ranges down south. The handgun tables are setup a little far (for me anyway) at 25m but you can walk up closer and I think the rifle range goes back to 100m. Pretty nice little shotgun area too.

I didn't wait for any of you folks today. I got out and worked on some CCW drills that I saw on tv the other night.
I guess the rest of you are just like me and mostly shoot when you make a little time to do it. Give me a shout if you feeling like having a little company next time you go out. |
