I think he meant, why was he on a 3 year hiatus. I figured with riding like that, he probably bit it pretty hard, but maybe someone knows 100%...

I would GUESS that it is due to him wrecking.... i mean that back tire was going on it's own volition? Do people normally have a wreckless handling like that on tracks? Or am i just not used to looking @ track shots pointed @ the back tire?
