Default speaking of valve adjustments....

I've been keeping an eye open over the winter for a more sporting mount; something I get some track time on.

when a bike comes up that catches my eye, I make a call and start the process.

I'm really amazed and the folks that do ZERO maintenance on their bikes. advertise, promote, and price them at the top of the chart with no service documention. many have no clue even what the intervals are for their machine.

just hung up the phone with a feller wanting top retail for a salvage titled bike thats due for its 3rd valve check/adjustment. he told me that he'd "never had any problem so he's never checked them. but he changes the oil a lot..."

seems every bike I've called on recently has been a similar story.

grrrrrr

I am not surprised by this info. The clientele that I deal have no idea that regular maintenance intervals are posted in the owners manual. The don't need to read the manual, they just want to be able to fire up the equipment and go. Most don't even know what air pressure their tires should have or how to check it.

About the only people that are really concerned about maintaining their bikes are the ones who don't intend on selling them so consequently, the ones that are for sale aren't usually maintained well.
