I've never used a kit...but I've never bled them on a bike either.
Do you recommend a kit? Brake Bleeder & Brake Bleeder Vacuum Pump Kit

They make it easier but you still need to do it the good old fashioned way to finish out.

I would bleed the old fashioned way and then take it in
To be bled. I bled mine and they were firmer after tergin vaccume bled them

A lot of newer master cylinders have a bleeder on them as well. If not, you can still get the air that gets trapped in the m/cyl to brake line connection by pumping the brakes and loosening that banjo bolt with the brake lever held. Same as cracking open the bleeder. Of course you'll want a rag wrapped around this area to catch the fluid that leaks out.
