I couldn't get Stephanie to work the throttle, so I kept all my digits.

before the bikes had sidestand cutoffs standard, we used to simply put the bike in gear and let it idle using the sidestand as a pivot and your hip to hold the back tire up off the pavement - lean over and and go work.

I personally know a fella that lost the tip of his finger doing this. doh!!!

Sadly, I've seen a lot of threads...some with pictures...of people who fall victim to this.

Can I remove the sprockets for cleaning without removing the chain?

...let me rephrase, is it advised to remove the sprockets for cleaning without removing the chain. My concern isn't getting the sprockets off, it's getting them back on with the chain being tense.

I don't understand the question. to remove the rear sprocket you will have to remove the rear wheel which will relive the tension on the chain. if you are talking about the countershaft, I doubt you'll be able to get it off with the chain in place. I had an old POS dirtbike that I could change countershaft sprockets on with just loosening things up, but there was a ton of room that you don't have

Okay, I wasn't sure if it was even feasible. I guess that would explain why I couldn't find any mention of doing it that way when I searched before posting to be sure.
