Does the Kawi have some kind of crash/fuel cutoff system? I had a truck that did the same thing after a wreck. Okay Earz, time to weigh in and scool us all.

I'm not familiar with epoxying a tip switch. Why was this done? I'm assuming it was an intentional modification and not a "budget" repair.

It sounds like a loose connection somewhere. Start simple and check battery terminal connections, a loose battery connection will cause all sorts of strange problems.

Depending on where/how it was wrecked may be a good starting point in checking for pinched/bare/damaged wiring.

You may also check continuity of the ignition switch contacts. Maybe a loose connection in the switch? You can always bypass the switch temporarily to eliminate the chance of a faulty switch.

No wiring/electrical problem is ever the same, so it's hard to give a "sure-fire" fix without checking a few things. Sometimes these problems are very difficult to track down, other times they jump out at you. Check I out real good and let us know what you find.

I can tear an engine down to nothing, clean it, and put it all back together but the first sign of an electrical problem I take it somewhere....electrical problems are always hard to diagnose so I just don't mess with it.
