I am very proficient at tearing into a car engine. Just never have done it to a motorcycle. And i figure whats a better time to do then when its cold outside. I will try that leak test and let you guys know whats going on. It will probably be this weekend when i get around to it. Thanks again for your help. If you can think of anything else please let me know.

The only other thing I can think to check is to see if a vacuum port anywhere on the affected cylinder/throttle body that leads to any of the fuel components. On the older carb bikes that used a vacuum operated fuel valve, if the valve would have a faulty diaphragm fuel would leak into that cylinder. On your bike, the pump is self contained in the tank, but I didn't know if one of the fuel pressure regulators may get vacuum from cylinder 2.

Btw - how many miles are on your bike?
And if you need valve shims, expect to pay $5-10 each. Most places won't trade shims so you have to buy all new shims for valves that are out of spec.
