Default 520 chain

Okay, so I'm planning on doing a 520 chain on my 900RR with -1 front and +2 out back. I don't know much about manufacturers. I found a kit on Ebay(I Know, I know...) and was wondering if this was worth picking up or if anyone has any suggestions. I'm trying to get the highest quality parts without killing my wallet. (it is just a '96 after all) So input is appreciated.Honda 92-99 CBR 900RR CBR900 520 CHAIN SPROCKET CONV:eBay Motors (item 330372578864 end time Nov-08-09 07:19:52 PST)

You might check with the folks ovcer at Tergins or DBM cycles. Both of them where able to price me good chin/sprocket kits for 520 relatively cheap. 520 chains are cheaper~

I briefly talked to George about a conversion the last time I was there. I've decided to do it. I am just trying to decide on parts now. Any suggestions from people who have done it and have a favorite?

Whatever you do... don't get aluminum sprockets... My bike came with one on the rear, and looking at the way the teeth wore/were missing I would definitely forgo any weight savings and stick with steel. That being said I ordered my stuff from drivesystemsusa.com
They were pretty helpful and had the best prices I could find

I stuck with the 525 chain b/c it was quite a bit cheaper ($30 i think)

Sprocket wil last if you keep maintanence up, keep it clean and lubed. If you've already talked to George about it go see him and let him give you a fair price. I can't think of anything more infuriating for a shop owner than to consult with a potential customer, sell them on something, then have them go buy it online to save a couple bucks.

Oh, anything I put on my bike I order through Tergin's. There's three places you must stay loyal to, your gun shop, your tattoo shop, and your bike shop. Stick to that and you'll always be happy with the service you get.

i put a driven 520 kit on my GSXR that is -1 front and an aluminum rear and it is doing great. The only reason people have trouble with aluminum rear sprockets is because they either buy a cheap low strength one or they do not keep it adjusted and lubricated properly. Don't be afraid on aluminum sprockets...

Well, the 900rr has been transported to Tergin's where it will be treated to Vortex Aluminum sprockets and an RK 520 chain..... Can't wait to pick it up.
