Hi guys! I'm v3xtra, also known as Jeremy. I'm 20 and a student down in Rolla, live in St. Louis though. Stumbled upon this site looking for some local riders! I unfortunately do not have a bike yet, but hopefully that will change this summer! If the right starter bike grabs my attention, and the price is right ( poor college student, I'm sure everyone knows that feeling! )
I probably won't be a huge poster, as I don't really know TOO much about motorcycles in general, but that's what I'm here for, isn't it?! Hoping to gain a lot more knowledge in motorcycles so that maybe if that starter bike isn't at that right price, I may be able to find one that needs a bit of TLC and work my way up to making it perfect. I'm excited to be a part of this forum, and hope that you all can show me a few pointers! Oh, and if you hear of anyone selling anything for a good price, let me know! Thanks and glad to meet everyone! |

Welcome to the board and take the motorcycle safety course in your area. Good way to get some experience and you need it to get a cycle license anyways.

Thanks for the hearty welcome!
I had a question though, and before I ask it, I'll give a bit of background. I'm a student, ( as stated earlier, Rolla ), and am really only looking for a bike that can get me around town ( fastest you really ever can go is 55mph, and that's a rare occasion if you know Rolla ). I need something cheap, being a college student and not having a large income this summer, and I found something via the amazing Craigslist. It's an old 1974 Kawasaki KZ400, and it seems to be in need of work ( I don't believe it starts up currently, but the owner says that it has before around a year ago. ) It's only listed for 300 or best offer, so I'd absolutely try and bring it down a bit if possible. What my main question is, is this bike too old to be able to ask help on here? Also, I'm a complete motorcycle newbie, and know very little about them. Is there anyone in St. Louis ( around Ballwin / Manchester, 63011 ), that would be able to occassionaly help with something or go through with me what needs to be done? I appreciate the welcome and hope that this works out, and that I can put a little bit of elbow grease and learn a lot about motorcycles in the process, and get a great motorcycle, for cheap, and say that I was able to fix it! |

Kawasaki KZ400 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
just reading through that, I would be a little wary.. drum brakes = nice crash. Kick start = ? wtf! However, its your moneys and bike. Whatver you decide to do there are a few mechanics and lots of mechanically inclined folks on this board that can help with any bike regardless~
