Default Need a Trustworthy Shop

So i have my 97 cbr, it started missing the last time i rode it and now wont stay running.. its got new plugs and good gas in it.. i checked it out a little bit and even though im a auto/diesel tech im not 100% comfortable working on it or hell even diagnosing it.. but i hate taking my stuff to other people. So i need to find a shop that is trustworthy, maybe even a little on the perfectionist side lol.

+1 on Tergins, but I feel you on being nervous about taking it to someone. I'll help walk you through troubleshooting if you want to tackle it yourself. The only thing different about bikes from cars is the drivetrain and number of wheels. The rest is almost the same.

Did you replace plugs because of the misfire? Or were they replaced before the misfires started?

I replaced plugs because the previous owner fouled them trying to start it, so when I got it it wouldn't start I changed plugs it started right up but when choked always acted funny. . I put about 200 miles on it then all of a sudden I started it to put in garage and it had a dead miss

I'm leaning towards a carbureution problem, especially since you said it acted funny on choke. My guess would be some rust or dirt has collected in the dark depths of the fuel tank and have made their way into the float bowls - eventually clogging the pilot jets or main jets. You can check by pulling the fuel line off and draining a bit of fuel from the tank into a clean container. If you see any sediment, I'd say you need a carb clean.

Motorcycle carbs are super easy as long as you don't spilt the carb bodies apart. Read through this and see if you're up to it.
