I need to get a battery for the new (to me) bike I am getting. Now if I went to the dealership I could be guaranteed to be waiting while they dink around on the telephone and shuffle through papers and the computer while I stand there waiting. They would look up the part number in the computer and if they had one, sell it to me. Maybe tell me to have a nice day.
Instead I buy from Tergins. Call on the phone and get Ron. Tell him I need a battery. He must have been reading the board as he asked if it was for that Honda I was talking about. They have one. He tells me he will get it ready and have it waiting for me at the counter when I come by. When I do come by we chat about the bike and then takes me back to check out another old Honda they are working on in the back. George, the owner, waves at me as we walk by (he is on the phone). Could I have gone to Walmart and got the battery cheaper? Maybe, but it would have also been a cheaper quality battery. And the important point is Walmart, like the dealer, would not spend the same amount of time on me. Tergins will spend the time to find the part I need regardless of how expensive the part is. And you can tell they like what they are doing. That's what keeps me coming back.

I agree with you 100%. I had mentioned on the board here I was gonna be headed in to get a new front tire. When I had showed up George had all my paperwork and file ready to go to get the ball rolling on getting my tire installed on my wheel. I won't go any where else. Everybody there is great. Ron spent two evenings giving me info and helping me find a leather suit that I'll be happy with. Then there is Jenny. She has the real job of keeping everyone on track. Hope you feel better Jenny. I've been to a lot of shops over many years and Tergings is still the best to walk into.

I will have to put my part in here too, since I REALLY love that place.
Being a very new motorcycle rider in July '11 i was really skeptical about people that work in the business since my 1st experience ever was horrid. I went to get the motorcycle i was gawking at online for months, and they (the people @ moto dealership) were almost at the point of making fun of the bike i purchased and the fact i was new. I almost didn't get the motorcycle at that point; i was doubting ever having one. After pushing through and getting the bike anyways, I joined the forum soon after. When i went in (tergins) i said my hellos and they KNEW who i was via forum. They have ALWAYS been really good in helping me with choices and confidence that i needed. Lots of stuff i could have purchased online cheaper, sure. But i support that place because they deserve every penny. Jenny was heading out for something that day when i was introduced. She talked with me over some starting gear for at LEAST 30 minutes. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE @ TERGINS! |

I used to go to larrys when i first started riding and had them tell me this bearing in my new (to me) rear wheel was not messed up it was just dirty and they proceeded to give it back to me. I was not confident with their assessment so when i needed my new tires put on i went to Tergins always seeing kids in highschool wearing their shirts and hoodies and hearing they were awesome and being unhappy with larrys thus far. I showed my wheel to George and he confirmed my suspicions that the bearing was bad. It ended up they did not have the bearing in stock so Ron had to run around all day to find a bearing for me and shapeless who had the same problem, and got me up and going before the weekend. Needless to say larrys will not see anymore of my business.

We were at Hallett when an electrical problem killed the rest of the 2nd day, and the front piston would only fire intermittently. After a little research I figured it had something to do with the coil. But, the crew at Tergins swapped the coils and the front cylinder was still acting up. Wiring was the next suspect. They made a few calls to Omaha Ducati, and the textbook suggestion was I needed a new wiring harness...over $600!!! The Tergins crew narrowed the problem down to a bad wire at one of the coil plugs. George said there HAD to be a way to fix it rather than replace the whole harness. He figured they could snip the plug and replace it above the damaged wire. The problem was finding the replacement pins in the plug. Ron spent hours doing the research, and finally discovered the pins were common in diesel motors. The pins were located in a diesel shop, the repair was done, and the Duc was operational again without having to replace the entire harness.
No other shop would have invested that kind of time in the interest of saving the customer some money. 99% of the shops would have simply gone with the textbook/dealership recommendation. I have numerous other stories, like staying after hours to help me fit my track bodywork, fabricating a very well done repair for a cracked muffler mount on the sub-frame, dropping everything to perform some emergency repair / tire change as we were loading the bikes on the trailer for an Arkansas trip, etc. I have gone in looking to purchase gear, and Jenny, George, or Dustin (back in the day) have taken time to talk at length about what I wanted and/or needed. Service way above and beyond. Trust is a very difficult thing to give in the automotive/motorcycle repair business. In my lifetime I have only trusted two guys with my cars, and only one shop with my bike. Tergins has it and I will give them all of my business. The folks at Tergins aren't just my service people, they are my friends.

Wow, guys!! How flattering!! George is definitly a perfectionist, and expects that from his crew as well. We know that you can find just about everything we sell cheaper on the internet, which is why we must set ourselves apart with our customer service. I am so glad that you appreciate that and continue to do business with us! You are not only customers, you are our friends too. We see a few of you more then we see our own family

I took my bike there to get a new tire and ended up with two. Not only do they do what the job is, they look over your bike to identify what should be done to help get the most out of your machine.
Always, always worth the trip.
