^^^ Good to hear. Where did you end up getting the plastics from?? Did you manage to get the bolt threads from the frame slider out?

cool weather update : with the temps dropping a couple of things to keep in mind.

Check your tire pressure ;it will be lower if you havent been on top of it since the cool weather moved in. a couple of pounds can make a big difference .
Stay off the paint . The center strips become increasingly slick as the temp drops.

wildlife seems to move more when the temps drop as well . be aware of it

Good Tips.... Don't forget to properly gear up too. The cold can have an effect on your body as well as your bike, causing fatigue and forcing a rider to make small mistakes that can ultimately lead to a very big mistake. Be safe everyone. See you out there.

Excellent stuff FalxZZR! May I use your post for the safety tip at our Road Riders for Jesus meeting? I give a safety tip every meeting and this would be great!

p.s. I've been absent for awhile - my father-in-law died in Ohio, so I have been pretty busy the last few weeks. He was 91 and ready to go!

Being extremely new to riding I greatly appreciate the tips you all have posted! One thing I noticed even going slow is that the bike grips WAY more once I take a lot of corners in a local subdivision (10-15 minutes) before hitting common streets. This also lets me re-familiarize myself with the basics to give me more road confidence.

A BIG THANK YOU OUT TO EVERYONE WHO POSTED THIS!

Grip will only increase in a particular tire when it heats up. Despite the common misconception of weaving back and forth, the best way to heat up a tire is hard acceleration and hard braking (but don't skid the rear). Taking a few slow turns to start your ride will re-familiarize you with the low-speed handling of the bike before you take off in traffic, and that is not a bad thing at all.
