I just got off the phone with Travis from David Burke's (Team Suzuki) here in Jefferson City
He had a great idea that I am definately on board with, and I hope (I know) we have some members that will love this as well. He was talking about getting a wrecked up bike, building it up, documenting it, (showing wreck to race bike) and entering it into a WERA endurance race with MMR riders doing the riding, It would be something we have a minimal amount of money in, everyone could be a part of, would be great press and great fun for MMR and its members. Becuase the Team Suzuki guys here in town have beenr acing for a long time they have a ton of contacts throught the manufacturer and race world. We even talked about getting a guy from road race world to document the build and how we took a group of street riders and put them on the track and show how we could do. We are going to get some of the shop guys registered as they can explain everything we talked about in a much greater detail than I can. We talked about a multitide of things from getting a Kevin Schwantz leftover bike from his race school and building it up, they are hooked up with Vesrah guys and we can get bodywork, tires and eveyrthing on the cheap, they have nice suspension forks laying around from kickass race bikes unused, the possibilities of what we could do are huge. What we need is community support, people to help find/work on the bike, and of course RIDERS! (devo So, do we have any interest in making this a kickass summer project that we can all be a part of?

I am going to let Travis or Boone (whoever signs up for the forum) explain it a lot better, since they really know what we are talking about the insides and outs, what its going to take, and all that stuff. But really, im kind of.. scratch that.. SUPER excited about this idea.

I just spoke with Devo, who does not have an internet connection right now.
He said hes in full bore with this idea, whatever he needs to do. I told him that would help alot as sometimes people kind of joke and say im the leader etc etc, but in reality, devo is kind of 'the leader' as concerned to the local motorcycle community. So, im super excited, and I am probabaly gonna pee my pants. Some people I would like to see on board with this (everyone is welcome to do whatever we can of course) ryoung57 desmo2 fallout jakesgsxr -zixxer- dracer35 just for the fact that these are guys I know like wrenching on bikes or can really add something to the team. But ANYONE can help in some way or another! So post up!

This sounds like an absolute fucking blast. I've worked with people through the years rebuilding cars/bikes/various toys and it's a rush building something from scratch. I'm sure you guys down at Team Suzuki will have all the shop space we would need but if need be, I can definitely clear out a good chunk of my garage for storage/ shop work (it's a considerably large garage).
What's exactly involved in the endurance race? I knew some people that did an Mountain bike endurance race in College, but it was a 24 hour deal so somehow 4 hours on a motorbike seems like it would be a bit short. We talking full bore around the track here?
