Default Front Wheel Stand

I have a stand similar to this one and I was looking at modifying it to fit in the holes at the lower end of my front fork legs. (What are the holes there for anyway?) It will be an easier adaption than going to the steering stem. Any suggestions from you folks will be greatly appreciated.

The hole is to allow access to the bolt that holds the damper assembly in the fork (can't see it when axle is installed). I don't see any negative affects to using them to prevent sliding/shifting, but you'll want to make sure the pin that fits in the holes is not long enough to scratch/gouge your axle. That would make front wheel removal a real pain in the ass. I'd only use the pin/hole combo to keep the stand located, and not to actually support the weight of the bike.

Sounds like I need to modify the stand to fit in the base of the triple tree. The main goal is to use it when I need to change out tires.

It will work perfect for that, I meant if you gouge the axle, then the axle would be hard to remove. The stand is designed for tire changes.

Duh! Usually I reserve these moments of no intelligence around my wife. I get what you are saying now. I now have another project for my little elves to work on.
