Can I remove my front tire without a front stand? I just need to get the stress off the front forks, right?
I'm getting a new tire and I think it costs like $90 to take the whole bike in vs. $30 if I just take in the rim.

I might be. I don't know if I do enough to make it worth it?
I'll PM you.

Where are you going? It shouldn't be that much. And yes, you can remove it, you just need to support the front end of the bike. A fork stand would be ideal, but I've seen people use jack stands, straps hung from the ceiling, floor jacks on the header, etc. Just make sure it's stable.

No matter how stable it seems, it's not worth the risk if you don't have a front AND rear stand. Front stands are not stable by themselves. They are designed to be accompanied by a rear stand. Shapeless, I think you are making a wise choice by taking it to someone who has the proper equipment to do the job safely.
