Default What Is This

I saw this on my tire this morning. The 'lines' look deeper than they actually are, they're just barely indentations in the rubber and they're only about 8 inches long.

I haven't made any hard stops and the bike hasn't sat anywhere for very long...the back tire doesn't have any marks on it.

my first guess with only the visual, I'd say it sat on a grate of some kind. have you ridden it since noticing it? i'm sure it'll go away with a few miles

Yea, I've ridden it with no issues.

I guess as long as it's not the tire shredding or something.

Yea, I had 6 PSI...that's normal right?

Seriously though, thanks for the help everyone. I'm choosing to go with Ammo's response since that one lets me just put it out of my mind until she blows while I'm going around a turn.

no need to worry - modern tires don't really blow like in the old tube days. it has to be a significant gash to "blow"

keep an eye on it, make sure and monitor the pressure a little more than normal, pay attention to vibrations and/or any bulges and I bet it'll go away with some wear

how many miles on the tire? looks like you could be down to the wear bars in the little hash in front of the marks?

I've never seen anything like that before. I hope it's not the rubber separating from the cords or something.
