Hey guys, I need a new front tire and I would like some feedback because I haven't found that perfect tire yet. Here how I use my bike, I ride pretty much everyday to work, (all highway) and on the weekends I ride the back roads. Everyone's definition is different on how they ride, but I wouldn't consider myself a hard/fast rider. I like to run 65 to 75 on the back roads and don't ever max out my front tire. Basically I'm looking for a tire that's going to last becuase of all my highway commuting, but I don't want it sliding all over because it's so hard on the backroads. I really don't even think I'm aggressive enough to make a touring tire slide, but I thought I'd check before I buy.

The Michilen Pilot Roads seem to be a good tire, as are the Avon Storm. Both are a sport/touring model which will stick good enough for the street and last a long time. For a sport tire, lots of guys are having good luck with a Bridgestone BT-0016 but I'm not sure about availability because it's an older model. If you find them they'll probably be pretty cheap.

Avon storms used to have a "road hazard" for free tire replacement if you pick up a nail or something. Not sure if they still offer though.
Pilot road 2's are dual compound with harder in the middle and softer on the sides IIRC.

I just put a Pilot Road 2 on my ZX-6R.
It rides and feels just like my Pilot Power did, and it'll get at least double the mileage.

I am getting about 2500 max! on my SV1000 rear Pilot Power 2ct. (I change 2 to 1 rear/front tires) They grip great, but wear terrible. I only ride recreationaly though so wear is not as great a concern as grip.

That's what I'm saying, mine wear uber fast too. I need something else.

Food for thought...sport touring tires provide enough grip, even on spirited rides, for 90% of us. I never had any issues on the road with the Avon Storms on my 999, and I even ran a couple of track days with them. Granted, I did exceed their limits while on a subsequent track day, but I am pushing tires 2-3 times harder on the track than I ever thought about on the street.
